ENG | Illustration and book cover design I created to integrate a collective concept project by the group Oitos, in which the artists got together to create a collection of covers for classic books of world literature, containing the number 8 as an easter egg, as in the group's previous project. I was responsible for representing the book The Lost World (O Mundo Perdido, in brazilian portuguese), by Arthur Conan Doyle.
PT-BR | Ilustração e design de capa de livro que criei para integrar um projeto conceito coletivo do grupo Oitos, no qual os artistas se reuniram para criar uma coleção de capas para livros clássicos da literatura mundial, contendo o número 8 como easter egg, assim como no projeto anterior do grupo. A mim coube representar o livro O Mundo Perdido, de Arthur Conan Doyle.
ENG | As I wanted to highlight the physical differences and psychological profiles of the characters, seeking a certain fidelity to the way they were described in the book, I started by conceiving the designs of each one, to then reproduce them in the situation to be represented on the cover.
PT-BR | Como eu queria evidenciar as diferenças físicas e de perfis psicológicos dos personagens, buscando certa fidelidade à forma como foram descritos no livro, comecei concebendo os designs de cada um, para em seguida reproduzi-los na situação a ser representada na capa.
ENG | As I have been working exclusively in digital media for a long time, I miss working with traditional techniques (pencil, watercolor pencil and felt-tip brush pen), and I saw in this authorial project an opportunity to resume this process. After developing the outline of the idea, I divided the art into three basic elements: the setting, the characters and the top of the mountain, which I represented in the form of a dinosaur to make a symbolic reference to the theme of the adventure narrated in the book. Then, I developed the cover design digitally, assembling the composition, making the necessary treatments and adjustments and inserting the typography.
PT-BR | Venho há bastante tempo trabalhando exclusivamente em meio digital, sentindo saudades de trabalhar com técnicas tradicionais (lápis, lápis de cor aquarelável e pincel hidrográfico), e vi neste projeto autoral uma oportunidade de retomar este processo. Após desenvolver o esboço da ideia, dividi a arte em três elementos básicos: o cenário, os personagens e o cume do monte, que representei em forma de dinossauro para fazer uma referência simbólica o tema da aventura narrada no livro. Em seguida, desenvolvi o design da capa digitalmente, montando a composição, fazendo os devidos tratamentos e ajustes e inserindo a tipografia.
